THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN’S WELL- BEING SECURITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOUR BHAVANA : A CASE STUDY OF “THE RIGHTEOUS WAY OF CHILD BRINGING UP GROUP”

Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

 

 

The study consists of three main objectives, namely, 1) to study level of the development of children’s well-being security in accordance with the four Bhavana; 2) to compare the development of children’s well-being security in accordance with the four Bhavana; and 3) to study the guidelines  to support the development of children’s well-being security  in accordance with the four Bhavana. The sampling group used in this study consisted of 185 pupils aging between 4-8 years from the simple random sampling with the help of Krajcei and Morgan’s table.  This is the mixed method research: quantitative research and qualitative research. The collected data were analyzed by using statistical techniques such as Frequencies, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test, and Least Significant Difference: LSD.

 

The findings of this study are as follows :

 

1. The overall opinions of respondents toward the development of children’s well-being security in accordance with the four Bhavana have been found at high level. Having considered each aspect, it is noted at the high levels in all aspects ranging from the most to the least in terms of mean scores : Pannabhavana (cultivation of wisdom), Silabhavana (moral development), Cittabhavana (emotional development), and Kayabhavana (physical development), respectively.

2. With regard to comparison the development of children’s well-being security in accordance with the four Bhavana, it has been found that the children with different age, level of education, family’s income, warming family, nurture and training, participating in religious activities, and trained by the Virtuously Child-loving Group, have different opinions in the development of children’s well-being security in accordance with the four Bhavana with statistical significance at 0.05 level. Meanwhile, the children with gender, dwelling state, parents’ occupation and educational level are of no different opinions.

3. With the guidelines to support the development of children’s well-being security in accordance with the four Bhavana, it is suggested child should be trained in all 4 aspects: Kayabhavana : there should be process to train physical collection and performance; Silabhavana : child should be trained to spend time with others; Cittabhavana : child should be trained to strengthen spirit with security and forbearance; Pannabhavana : child should be trained to live in changing society.

The format of activities : 1) the fundamental activity for the sake of child’s impression; 2) activity with higher level for the trained child; and 3) activity for parents in order to stand by to be child’s supporter for several aspects in accordance with the four Bhavana in order to enable child apply for life quality development in daily life. Performing Method: 1) study fundamental factors of child; 2) adjust curriculum conforming to learning group; 3) training program should be suitable for aging group, experiencing group and also times and places for training; 4) creating social network for child-training program; 5) providing questionnaire, evaluating result and finding the way out;  6) parents should apply knowledge for child at home; and 7) child should be continuously trained till enable to develop oneself and help others.
