The objectives of this research were to study the state of gratitude cultivating for students in primary schools in Nonthaburi province and to propose a guideline of gratitude cultivating for students in primary schools in Nonthaburi province. The mixed research methodology was used in the study. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaires from 169 samples and analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The qualitative data were collected from documents and in-depth interviews with 8 key-informants and then analyzed by content analysis.
The results of the study found that:
1. The state of gratitude cultivating for students in primary schools in Nonthaburi province in 4 aspects was at a high level overall. The highest level was on gratitude to person, followed by gratitude to environment, gratitude to animal, and gratitude to institution respectively.
2. A guideline of gratitude cultivating for students in primary schools in Nonthaburi province was that the gratitude is the fundamental virtue for human beings because human society has to depend on other things and people, such as taking care from parents, relatives and teachers. Furthermore, human beings have to depend on the four necessities, and for their mental growth, they have to be nurtured and trained in attitude, values, morality, and ethics. Gratitude is not only practiced between humans and humans, but also between humans and animals and plants. Gratitude is in need for everyone and gratitude can make the one who has it and the others happy.
