Abstract

This dissertation is a Research and Development or (R and D) research which aims to develop a model leading to a Model of Developing an Ideal Expert in Peace through an experiment. It adopts the theoretical framework in Theravada Buddhism with modern science integration to develop a model and tests the model finding to get out of the most efficiency under the topic “A  Model of Developing an Ideal Expert in Peace  by Buddhist Peaceful Means”. There are 3 objectives (1) To study a model of developing an ideal expert according to the modern science and Theravada Buddhism, (2) To develop an ideal expert in Peace by Buddhist peaceful means, (3) To present a model of developing an ideal expert in Peace by Buddhist peaceful means.

The results of this research are:

1) The theoretical concept in developing can ideal expert according to modern science and Theravada Buddhism was found that modern sciences needed to be “process expert, group activity expert, practical expert, coaching expert, and OD expert” by emphasizing on the learning participation and trainee-centered, creating activities for learning, that needed to be a kind of an intelligently applied learning, enjoying plus benefit. This was how to adjust sciences towards Buddhism. The expert had to be able to turn difficulty into simplicity. For an expert in Theravada Buddhism, he/she had to follow “the principle of a model expert, an ideology of a model expert, the method of an ideal expert, and peace of an ideal expert”. In regards, an expert in Theravada Buddhism should follow the teaching of the Buddha in Ovada Patimokkha by emphasizing to self-develop with the purified mind, calmness, being the role model in behavior, ideology of tolerance to fight with difficulty, and possessing the dhamma communication method with no bad speech, no bad action, even people with cultural differences.

2) A  Model of Developing an Ideal Expert in Peace  by Buddhist Peaceful Means had been found that a model of training in Dhamma OD style was a dhamma propagation following the footprint of the Buddha. The Dhamma OD model training was “a learning through activities” in terms of the Dhamma OD expert monks in which the monks were suitably able to be the Dhamma OD experts because they brought the core teachings in Buddhism by applying to create the peaceful organization with the process of learning through activities and the group activity process in building the participation. This began with organizational analysis and diagnosis, trainee analysis, creating a model of trainee, designing learning activities, and then the D-H-A-M-M-A-O-D Model had been initiated by focusing on the peaceful organization building. The researcher found the results that A Model of Developing an Ideal Expert in Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means had 5 development areas consisting of 1) a model expert monk, 2) Dhamma OD training process, 3) organizational development, 4) Buddhist peaceful means, 5) inner peace building.

3) To present A Model of Developing an Ideal Expert in Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means, it was found that A Model of Developing an Ideal Dhamma OD Expert by Buddhist Peaceful Means or a model of developing an ideal peace expert had to follow the concept of K-U-M-S-A-N Model consisting of “knowledge of an ideal expert, understanding of an ideal expert, mindfulness-peace of an ideal expert, skill of an ideal expert, attitude of an ideal expert, and networking of an ideal expert”.

The experimental result of applying A Model of Developing an Ideal Expert in Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means with the sampling group of 41 monks, it was found that the general characteristics of trainees, the trainees had been evaluated on knowledge, understanding of an ideal expert in Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means after the training which showed a higher statistical significant than before the training (P < .05), attitude of an ideal expert monk was the highest of ( x̄ = 4.45 , S.D. = .41), attitude towards developing an ideal expert in Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means was at high level percentage of 65.85, skill of an ideal expert monk was at the highest level of x̄ = 4.62 , S.D. = .46), skill of an ideal expert monk after the training was at high level percentage of 80.49, the satisfaction of an ideal expert monk was at the highest level (x̄ = 4.57 , S.D. = .54), most of satisfaction level was at high level percentage of 65.85.

Therefore, the researcher has discovered an innovation from research to the society serving which had an impact on organization, society, and Buddhism in a good way. A Model of Developing an Ideal Expert in Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means or a model of developing an ideal peace expert was a new unit of knowledge of the researcher resulting in a short-term training course in order to answer the question raised by the university, organization, and the society onwards.
